So I have heard.
ekaį¹ƒ samayaį¹ƒ bhagavā kosambiyaį¹ƒ viharati ghositārāme.
At one time the Buddha was staying near Kosambi, in Ghositaā€™s Monastery.
Tena kho pana samayena dve pabbajitāā€”
Now at that time two renunciatesā€”
muį¹‡įøiyo ca paribbājako jāliyo ca dārupattikantevāsÄ« yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kamiį¹ƒsu; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavatā saddhiį¹ƒ sammodiį¹ƒsu.
the wanderer Muį¹‡įøiya and Jāliya the pupil of Dārupattikaā€”came to the Buddha and exchanged greetings with him.
SammodanÄ«yaį¹ƒ kathaį¹ƒ sāraį¹‡Ä«yaį¹ƒ vÄ«tisāretvā ekamantaį¹ƒ aį¹­į¹­haį¹ƒsu. Ekamantaį¹ƒ į¹­hitā kho te dve pabbajitā bhagavantaį¹ƒ etadavocuį¹ƒ:
When the greetings and polite conversation were over, they stood to one side and said to the Buddha:

ā€œkiį¹ƒ nu kho, āvuso gotama, taį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ taį¹ƒ sarÄ«raį¹ƒ, udāhu aƱƱaį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ aƱƱaį¹ƒ sarÄ«ranā€ti?
ā€œReverend Gotama, are the soul and the body the same thing, or they are different things?ā€
ā€œTena hāvuso, suį¹‡Ätha sādhukaį¹ƒ manasi karotha, bhāsissāmÄ«ā€ti.
ā€œWell then, reverends, listen and pay close attention, I will speak.ā€
ā€œEvamāvusoā€ti kho te dve pabbajitā bhagavato paccassosuį¹ƒ.
ā€œYes, reverend,ā€ they replied.

ā€œidhāvuso, tathāgato loke uppajjati arahaį¹ƒ, sammāsambuddho ā€¦ pe ā€¦
ā€œTake the case when a Realized One arises in the world, perfected, a fully awakened Buddha ā€¦

Thatā€™s how a mendicant is accomplished in ethics. ā€¦

7.2 - (7sb awakening sequence)

(7sb ā†’ 1-3 šŸ˜šŸ’­šŸ•µļøšŸ¹) Tassime paƱca nÄ«varaį¹‡e pahÄ«ne attani samanupassato
(7sb ā†’ 1-3 šŸ˜šŸ’­šŸ•µļøšŸ¹) Seeing that the hindrances have been given up in them,
pā-mojjaį¹ƒ jāyati,
rejoicing [in skillful Dharmas] is born.
(7sb ā†’ 4. šŸ˜) pa-muditassa pÄ«ti jāyati,
(7sb ā†’ 4. šŸ˜) For one rejoicing [in skillful Dharmas], rapture (is) born.
(7sb ā†’ 5. šŸŒŠ) pÄ«ti-manassa kāyo passambhati,
(7sb ā†’ 5. šŸŒŠ) (with) en-raptured-mind (the) body (is) pacified.
(7sb ā†’ 5.5 šŸ™‚) passaddha-kāyo sukhaį¹ƒ vedeti,
(7sb ā†’ 5.5 šŸ™‚) (with) pacified-body, {they experience} pleasure.
(7sb ā†’ 6. šŸŒ„) sukhino cittaį¹ƒ samādhiyati.
(7sb ā†’ 6. šŸŒ„) (For one in) pleasure, (the) mind becomes undistractible-&-lucid.

When a mendicant knows and sees like this, would it be appropriate to say of them:
ā€˜taį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ taį¹ƒ sarÄ«ranā€™ti vā ā€˜aƱƱaį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ aƱƱaį¹ƒ sarÄ«ranā€™ti vāti.
ā€˜The soul and the body are the same thingā€™ or ā€˜The soul and the body are different thingsā€™?ā€

When a mendicant knows and sees like this, would it be appropriate to say of them:
ā€˜taį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ taį¹ƒ sarÄ«ranā€™ti vā ā€˜aƱƱaį¹ƒ jÄ«vaį¹ƒ aƱƱaį¹ƒ sarÄ«ranā€™ti vāti.

They understand: ā€˜ā€¦ there is no return to any state of existence.ā€™

When a mendicant knows and sees like this, would it be appropriate to say of them:
